This 13" x 20" piece from Art By Julia Vaughan, titled 'Bioluminescence', explores the unseen layers that exist just beneath the surface—where chaos, beauty, and transformation quietly collide. My Vision

For this piece, I found I was especially drawn to the natural flow and how the painting almost seems to be living and breathing - full of life and spontaneous movement, as if it could shift at any moment. To stay true to the  organic pathways, I wanted to create a piece with delicate yet fierce intricacies and intense contrast, symbolizing the sometimes overwhelming chaos in life and the harmony that can thrive within the chaos, once we stop fighting/ trying to control - the two highly contrasting forces, and simply allow them to work together as a catalyst to find the balance we need while dynamically enhancing the our lives and completing - rather than clashing with one another.

I have to admit, sometimes it’s hard for me to give up control and just go with the flow, and at first it was easier said than done. Surprisingly, after ‘slightly’ struggling with my inner control freak, and a few ‘mantra breathing - moments’, I was able to stop overthinking, and let the painting guide me in my creative process. While still actively providing the absolute maximum possible differences in hue and intensifying the simultaneous contrast by  design, making the dramatic transition between regular and black light an explostion of UV fire! Start to finish, this painting took 1.5 months to complete and was a journey of discovery, all on its own.
